Parineeti Chopra, the talented Bollywood actress, has been making waves with her recent performance in Imtiaz Ali's latest film, Amar Singh Chamkila. However, as a member of the Chopra family, with Priyanka Chopra as her cousin, Parineeti has faced questions about whether her familial ties provided her with an unfair advantage in her career.
In a recent interview on Raj Shamani's podcast, Parineeti candidly addressed these perceptions, stating, "If being related to Priyanka Chopra could’ve helped my career, then I wouldn’t have had any flops in my career. I’ve seen such lows in the last 10 years." She emphasized that while having connections might open doors initially, the journey to success in the film industry is ultimately one's own.
Parineeti also touched upon the broader issue of favouritism in Bollywood, highlighting the pressure individuals face regardless of their background. "Every person who has had some association in the industry is actually under a lot of pressure. You might get your first chance, first audition, first meeting, but after that, you’re on your own and it’s more difficult to prove yourself," she explained. Parineeti stressed the importance of talent and a strong public relations strategy, stating that these factors are crucial for survival in the industry.
Despite the challenges she has faced, Parineeti remains grateful for the support and praise she has received for her work. Taking to her Instagram account, she expressed her gratitude, writing, "Curled up in my blanket. Overwhelmed with your words, calls, and movie reviews. (tears are not stopping) PARINEETI IS BACK."
In Amar Singh Chamkila, Parineeti delivers a standout performance, portraying the role of Amarjot Kaur in the musical biopic of the late Punjabi singer. The film, which was released on Netflix on April 19, has garnered praise for its compelling storytelling and powerful performances. Parineeti's journey in Bollywood serves as a testament to her resilience and determination to carve out her own path in the industry, transcending the shadow of nepotism and favouritism.
