Gurucharan Singh, widely adored for his portrayal of Roshan Singh Sodhi in the popular sitcom Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah, has reportedly been missing for five days, leaving fans and fellow actors deeply concerned.

The 50-year-old actor was last seen at the Delhi airport on April 22, where he was scheduled to board a flight to Mumbai. However, he never arrived in Mumbai and has not returned home since. His sudden disappearance has sparked significant worry, particularly since he is known to be mentally stable. His father has filed a police complaint, prompting a statement from DCP South-West Delhi Rohit Meena regarding the ongoing investigation.

In a recent development, Meena stated that the police are currently scanning CCTV footage and investigating the case thoroughly. "Gurucharan Singh's family lodged a complaint with us that he left for Mumbai on 22 April at 8:30 pm. He has been missing since then. We have registered a case and are investigating from multiple angles. We are looking for footage and conducting technical investigations, and we have found many vital clues," he said.

Meena further elaborated, "We have registered a case under Section 365 of the IPC. The initial probe involves following his movements according to CCTV footage and analyzing corroborative technical evidence. He is seen going with a backpack."

Singh's character, Roshan Singh Sodhi, was a fun-loving man who was always in a party mood and never hesitated to express his love for his wife. He was a popular character on the show and a founding cast member. Singh had initially left the show in 2013 but returned the following year due to public demand. After his final exit in 2020, he was replaced by actor Balwinder Singh Suri.

In 2021, Singh had spoken about his reasons for leaving the show and the possibility of a comeback. "Well, my Dad had undergone surgery around the time I quit the show. There were a few other things I had to address, and life went on," Singh had told Times of India. Despite speculations about payment delays being the reason for his exit, Singh had chosen not to comment, saying, "Hum pyaar mohabbat se aage badhna pasand karna chahte hain (I want to move forward with love and respect.). There are some other reasons I don’t want to talk about."

When asked about returning to the show, Singh had said, "God knows, I don’t know. Agar rab ki marzi hogi toh (If God wishes) I will return. But nothing as such for now. Last time too, I hadn’t expected or planned, it just happened."

The news of Gurucharan Singh's disappearance has deeply affected the television industry and its audiences, with many hoping for his safe return. "Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah," which depicts the everyday life of residents in Gokuldham Cooperative Housing Society, has been an integral part of Indian TV since 2008, with Singh's character playing a pivotal role.
