R Sarath Kumar and Ashok Selvan-starrer 'Por Thozhil' has become one of the most successful Tamil films of 2023 and it has also become a hit on the OTT platform. The movie was recently released on SonyLiv after its theatrical run and the audience is showering the film with love. Ashok Selvan recently talked about the success of 'Por Thozhil' and revealed his thoughts about the film's sequel.

In an interview with The Indian Express, Ashok said that there are numerous possibilities for the sequel of 'Por Thozhil'. He said, "The platform is set for a sequel. We can take it forward in many ways. There are numerous possibilities. It is up to Vignesh now to do it. Such a question happened to 'Thegidi'. People kept asking when will we make a second part. For some reason, we couldn’t do it. Now, 'Por Thozhil' has made people ask the same thing."

While talking about the 'Thegidi 2' sequel, he said, "See, for a film to happen everyone involved in it should be on the same page. One person cannot do much. So, yes, things didn’t come together for 'Thegidi 2'. Hope it happens with 'Por Thozhil'."

Sarath Kumar, who was seen as a cop in 'Por Thozhil', has essayed the role of a cop in more than 30 films. Talking about playing a similar role again, he told The Hindu, "It actually gave me the feeling of investigating a real crime. I wouldn’t call the character arrogant. He’s a seasoned cop with a rigid outlook who, looking at newbies, wonders if they’ll make the cut in the force.”

"The method of uncovering the truth, in 'Por Thozhil', is unique as it gets into the psyche of the killer. The film takes a deep dive into why he’s on a killing spree and what sort of a person he is. Studying these aspects was an interesting process and it felt like accessing a new style of investigation that I haven’t had the chance to portray earlier,” he added.

'Por Thozhil' revolves around an academically bright but faint-hearted rookie who teams up with a hostile and reclusive senior cop to catch a serial killer on the loose.
