Pravinkoodu Shappu Trailer: The much-awaited trailer for the Malayalam film Pravinkoodu Shappu, starring Basil Joseph and Soubin Shahir, is finally out. Directed by debutant Sreeraj Sreenivasan and produced by Anwar Rasheed, the movie promises an intriguing blend of humour and suspense.

The trailer opens with Basil Joseph’s character, a police officer, investigating a suspicious death at a toddy shop, or "shappu." The narrative unfolds as the officer recreates the events of the fateful night when 11 individuals were drinking and playing cards. Basil’s character methodically rules out the possibility of external interference, suggesting the crime was committed by someone present at the scene.

Adding to the intrigue, Chemban Vinod Jose’s character boldly states that the deceased, Babu, would never commit suicide, insisting it’s a case of murder. The trailer introduces a host of eccentric characters, each with their own quirky observations, contributing to the film’s offbeat humour.

Soubin Shahir plays a middle-aged man with a humorous edge, delivering witty remarks and subtle jabs at the investigating officer. His salt-and-pepper bald look has already caught the attention of fans, adding a unique charm to his character. As the investigation progresses, Basil’s character deduces that the crime was a calculated act by a narcissistic individual, challenging the authorities with their audacious plan. The trailer concludes with glimpses of action and suspense, hinting at a thrilling climax. The movie releases in theatres on 16 January 2025.

Apart from Basil and Soubin, the film features a talented ensemble cast, including Chemban Vinod Jose, Chandini Sreedharan, Sivajith Padmanabhan, Shabareesh Varma, Niyas Backer, Revathi, and more. The movie is brought to life by Shyju Khalid’s cinematography, Vishnu Vijay’s music, and Shafique Mohammed Ali’s editing.

Soubin Shahir, who gained recognition for his role in the blockbuster Manjummel Boys, is set to make his Tamil debut in the Rajinikanth-Lokesh Kanagaraj film Coolie. He also has the Malayalam movie Machante Malakha awaiting release. Basil Joseph, last seen in Cup and Sookshmadarshini, has several projects lined up, including Ponman and Marana Mass.
