Producer Boney Kapoor and actor Siddharth had a roundtable chat recently to discuss whether good cinema prevails over star power in terms of film's overall success at the box office. While expressing his take on the topic, Boney cited South star Jr NTR as a 'new face' that would be accepted by North Indian audiences just like Kamal Hassan and K Balachander were thanks to their 1981 classic film 'Ek Duuje Ke Liye'. However, Siddarth and producer Naga Vamsi did not accept his take and corrected him on considering RRR fame as a new face.
Boney Kapoor Calls Jr NTR A New Face
Speaking to Galatta India, Boney Kapoor shared how good cinema has always found its audience irrespective of the language and region. Proving his point, the producer stated, Ek Duuje Ke Liye 1981 film as an example. On Boney's statement, Siddharth reacted and said director K Balachander and actor Kamal Haasan were already popular in South back then. And he asked Maidaan producer whether a ‘new face’ and ‘new director’ would be accepted like that in the North today. On this Boney took Jr NTR's name.
Boney responded, “Yes, why has Adi (Aditya) Chopra taken Tarak (Jr NTR) for his film (War 2)?" Producer Naga Vamsi corrected him instantly. He said, Jr NTR was far from being a “new face." Siddharth added, “You are talking about the biggest superstar of this (south) industry working with the biggest superstar (Hrithik Roshan) of this (north) industry, working with the biggest producer in India."
Talking about the film, Ek Duuje Ke Liye was directed by K Balachander. The romantic drama starred Rati Agnihotri, Kamal Haasan, Raza Murad, among many others.
Meanwhile, Boney’s daughter and actor Janhvi Kapoor recently made her debut in South cinema alongside Jr NTR in Devara: Part 1.

On the other hand, Jr NTR is set to enthrall audience in Ayan Mukerji's upcoming movie War 2 also starring Hrithik Roshan and Kiara Advani. The highly anticipated movie War 2 is slated to release on August 14, 2025, interestingly coinciding with India's Independence Day celebrations. Lastly, Siddharth was seen in the movies Indian 2 and Miss You.
