Prabhas-starrer 'Project K' has been the topic of discussion among Indian sci-fi fans ever since its announcement. 'Project K' has now taken Indian cinema a step further as its exclusive footage will be launched at the San Diego Comic-Con (SDCC).

According to Variety, Deepika Padukone, Prabhas and Kamal Haasan will be present at the SDCC to launch the film's official title, teaser trailer and release date. The trio will be a part of the panel titled 'This is Project K: First Glimpse of India’s Mytho-Sci-fi Epic' on July 20 and will also feature in a performance on SDCC’s largest stage.

Producers of 'Project K' said in a statement, “This exclusive event will transport guests into India’s most ambitious cinematic universe yet with their captivating storytelling, futuristic setting, and ‘Spice Punk’ aesthetic inspired by the film."

Director Nag Ashwin added, "We are thrilled to present ‘Project K”s debut at San Diego Comic-Con. India’s storytelling tradition has ancient roots, with its epics serving as the origins for many civilizations worldwide. A world as big as this needs a platform as big to introduce it to the people. Comic-Con felt like the perfect place, where the honesty and enthusiasm needed for ‘Project K’ will be found.”

As per reports, 'Project K' will be made on a budget of Rs 600 crore, making it one of the most expensive Indian films. It was also reported that Prabhas charged whopping Rs 150 crores for 'Project K'. According to ETimes, producer of 'Project K', Priyanka Dutta, has called the reports of Prabhas charging Rs 150 crore false and baseless.

Kamal Haasan has joined the film as an antagonist. After joining the film, the 'Vikram' star expressed his excitement about working with director Nag Ashwin. He said in his statement, "50 years back when I was a dance assistant and an assistant director the name Ashwini Dutt loomed large in the production sector. Both of us are coming together after 50 years. A brilliant director from our next generation is at the helm. My co-stars, Mr Prabhas and Ms Deepika are also of that generation. I have worked with Amit Ji before. Yet every time it feels like the first time. Amit Ji keeps reinventing himself. I am also emulating that inventive process."

Directed by Nag Ashwin, 'Project K' will release in theatres on January 12, 2024.
