What is Gangamma Jatara?
Let's learn more about the folk festival, Gangamma Jatara since Allu Arjun's androgynous appearance in Pushpa 2: The Rule was inspired by Goddess Gangamma Thalli, where the deity is revered.
A traditional festival known as Tirupati Gangamma Jatara is held annually in the first and second weeks of May. Devotees travel from all across the nation to Tirupati during this time to pray to Goddess Gangamma. She is regarded as the sister of God Venkateshwara Balaji in Hindu mythology and is credited with safeguarding the area from danger.
In Tirupati, followers of the Tataiahgunta Gangamma Temple celebrate Gangamma Jatara. The celebration is then officially opened by drummers beating dappus through the old town.
The festival of Gangamma Jatara is thought to be an important component in Allu Arjun's Pushpa 2. Given that Pushpa Raj's character is from Andhra Pradesh, the filmmakers would use this to emphasize his heritage.
