In the world of showbiz, where every move is scrutinized under the unforgiving glare of the spotlight, even the most trivial of matters can snowball into a full-blown debate. The latest topic of discussion? Whether Bollywood actor Rajkummar Rao has undergone plastic surgery.
Speculation ran rampant after a picture of Rao at Diljit Dosanjh's concert made rounds on social media. However, putting all rumours to rest, the actor himself has stepped forward to set the record straight: "It is not plastic surgery!"
During a conversation with Hindustan Times, Rao chuckled at the comparisons drawn between him and Rishabh Sawhney, the antagonist in the recent blockbuster Fighter (2024). "I found this debate very amusing," he remarked. "That image looks too perfect to be real. I don't have that flawless skin. It seemed touched up, like something out of a Kpop video."
Addressing the natural process of ageing, Rao candidly admitted to embracing his fine lines and the changes that come with growing older. "I'm not a 21-year-old anymore," he quipped. "Back when I was starting out, many doubted my ability to play lead roles due to my appearance. People would say, 'You don't have the right look'".

Reflecting on his journey, Rao shared his initial introduction to cosmetic procedures. "After 'Kai Po Che!', I visited a dermatologist for the first time. I didn't even know these things existed," he recalled. Admitting to feeling self-conscious about his facial balance, he opted for fillers to address the issue. "Suddenly, people started noticing my confidence," he remarked.

The actor emphasized the importance of confidence and self-care, stating, "It's my life, my face. If something medicinal is available, why not? If it boosts my confidence, I'm all for it." Rao stressed the need for moderation in cosmetic enhancements, cautioning against extremes that alter one's appearance drastically.
As Rao gears up for the release of his upcoming film Srikanth Aa Raha Hai Sabki Aankhein Kholne and a busy slate of projects in 2024, he remains unfazed by the chatter surrounding his appearance. Srikanth releases in theatres on May 10, 2024.
