Rajkummar Rao is currently basking in the success of his latest horror-comedy movie 'Stree 2'. The movie will soon become one of the most successful Hindi movies of 2024 and also of his career. But this popularity and fame have not been overnight for the actor. In a recent interaction with Shubhankar Mishra, the actor talked about why he decided to change his surname from 'Yadav' to 'Rao' and issued a clarification as well.
Rajkummar said, "Aisa koi rule nahin hai. Maine kabhi surname use kiya nahi tha. Mere passport mein bhi sirf Rajkummar hee tha (There’s no such rule. I had never used a surname before. Even in my passport, it’s just Rajkummar). This is for people to not get confused as to which Rajkummar you are talking about. Rajkummar Hirani, Santoshi, Gupta or this one. And Rao is a title which is given to Yadavs, so I started using it."

In an interview with Film Companion, Rajkummar Rao talked about 'Stree 2' and said, "Same world, same people. It's bigger for sure, same duniya, kuch nahi badla hai, (nothing has changed) I think jo soul this uss film ki vo isme bhi hai.” (the soul remains the same as Stree)
The movie also stars Shraddha Kapoor in the lead role with Pankaj Tripathi, Abhishek Banerjee and Aparshakti Khurana seen in pivotal roles. Akshay Kumar made a surprising came in 'Stree 2' and will be seen in pivotal roles in the upcoming franchises. Tamannaah Bhatia and Varun Dhawan also had cameo roles. 'Stree 2' has been performing well at the box office and will soon cross Rs 500 crore mark worldwide.

On the work front, Rajkummar was last seen in 'Mr And Mrs Mahi' along with Janhvi Kapoor. The movie is currently streaming on Netflix. Rajkummar will next star in 'Vicky Vidya Ka Woh Wala Video' opposite Triptii Dimri.
