Rajpal Yadav was sentenced to six months in prison after the Delhi High Court denied his last-minute request for relief in a lengthy case involving debt default and check bounce. The dispute, which has been ongoing for more than 10 years, concerns unpaid debts. The court stated that special treatment cannot be justified by celebrity status. Addressing the situation, the actor told Bollywood Hungama, "Sir, kya karoon? Mere paas paise nahin hain. Aur koi upaay nahin dikhta."
Rajpal Yadav's Debt Amount
Rajpal Yadav reportedly borrowed about Rs 5 crore from a Delhi-based businessman for his production company, Ata Pata Laapata, in 2010, which is when the dispute began. The overdue amount increased to around Rs. 9 crore over time as a result of accrued interest, penalties, and late payments. Two demand drafts totalling Rs 75 lakh were deposited in October 2025, according to the Delhi High Court.
The majority of the liability stands at roughly Rs 9 crore.
