Actor Ram Pothineni surprised fans with a special announcement on Saturday. Taking to X (formerly Twitter), he revealed that his upcoming film, Double ISMART, directed by Puri Jagannadh, is set to release on August 15. This news left Ram's fans excited, but it also sparked speculation among Allu Arjun's fans about the release status of Pushpa 2: The Rule.
The release date announcement came with a new poster featuring Ram, exclaiming, “Maammmaaaaa! Date block kar!! - Ustaad #Doubleismart Shankar.” The makers strategically chose Independence Day for the release, aiming to capitalize on the holiday as well as Raksha Bandhan on Monday (August 19). In the poster, Ram can be seen in a vibrant avatar, sporting vibhooti with a Shiva Lingam in the background.
However, with Pushpa 2: The Rule, starring Allu Arjun and Rashmika Mandanna, also scheduled for release on the same day, fans are curious about the potential clash or postponement of the latter film. Speculation arose on social media, with fans questioning whether Pushpa 2 will indeed be postponed. The makers of Pushpa 2 have not yet addressed these rumours or provided any confirmation regarding the release date.
Double ISMART is the sequel to Puri's 2019 blockbuster iSmart Shankar. The film introduces new additions to the cast, including Sanjay Dutt and Kavya Thapar. The prequel featured Nabha Natesh and Nidhhi Agerwal alongside Ram. Despite facing criticism for some problematic scenes, iSmart Shankar was a box-office success.
The cinematography for Double iSmart is handled by Sam K Naidu and Gianni Gianneli, with music composed by Mani Sharma, who also worked on the prequel. The film is produced by Puri and Charmme Kaur under Puri Connects and will be released in Telugu, Tamil, Kannada, Malayalam and Hindi.
With Pushpa 2 currently scheduled to release on August 15, several major movies such as Stree 2, Vedaa, Khel Khel Mein and Double ISMART are set to clash at the box office on Independence Day.
