Stree 2 Release Date: Cine lovers are in for a treat this Independence Day as the much-awaited Stree 2 starring Shraddha Kapoor and Rajkummar Rao has finally announced its release date. The film, directed by Amar Kaushik and produced by Dinesh Vijan’s Maddock Films, is set to hit theatres on August 15, 2024. This announcement has not only excited fans but also set the stage for a massive box-office clash.
Shraddha Kapoor took to Instagram on Friday morning to share the exciting news. “Iss swatantrata diwas, aa rahi hai #Stree fir se! #Stree2 in cinemas this Independence Day, 15th August 2024,” she wrote, along with a teaser video.
Stree, which was released in 2018, was a game-changer in the horror-comedy genre, receiving critical acclaim and achieving commercial success. The film’s catchy music, including hits like 'Milegi Milegi' and 'Aao Kabhi Haveli Pe', also contributed to its popularity.
Building on the success of the first instalment, Stree 2 promises to bring back the spine-chilling yet hilarious charm that captivated audiences. The film is part of Maddock Films' horror-comedy universe, which includes other notable films like Roohi and Bhediya.
Stree 2 Teaser in Theatres with Munjya
In an exciting move for fans, the teaser for Stree 2 teaser has been made available exclusively in theatres with the film Munjya. Released on June 7, 2024, Munjya features Abhay Verma, Sharvari and Mona Singh, and is also part of Maddock Films' horror-comedy lineup. The decision not to release the teaser on social media platforms has increased anticipation among fans.

The release of Stree 2 on Independence Day is set to create a monumental clash at the box office. The film will compete against Allu Arjun and Rashmika Mandanna’s highly anticipated Pushpa 2: The Rule. Earlier this year, the teaser for Pushpa 2 was released on Allu Arjun’s birthday, showcasing the star in a dramatic new look, which has only heightened the excitement among fans.
Reports indicate that the release of Pushpa 2 may be delayed, potentially affecting the release schedule of Vikram's Thangalaan, directed by Pa Ranjith. Thangalaan was initially planned for a June release but is now rumoured to premiere on August 15, Independence Day, stepping in to represent South cinema if Pushpa 2 shifts its date.
Adding to the competition, Akshay Kumar's Khel Khel Mein is also set to release on August 15, 2024. This comedy-drama, starring Taapsee Pannu, Ammy Virk, Aditya Seal, Pragya Jaiswal and Fardeen Khan, promises a mix of laughter and drama, making it another strong contender at the box office.
Moreover, John Abraham’s Vedaa is also slated for release on the same day, rounding out a list of high-profile films that will make Independence Day 2024 a memorable one for moviegoers.
Earlier, Ajay Devgn's Singham Again which will feature an ensemble cast including Deepika Padukone, Ranveer Singh, Tiger Shroff, Arjun Kapoor, Kareena Kapoor and others was set to release on August 15 but the movie has announced its new release date set for Diwali 2024 and has avoided the box office clash. The movie will now clash with another highly anticipated Diwali release, Kartik Aaryan's Bhool Bhulaiyaa 3.
It'll be interesting to see which movie will leave a mark among the audiences.
With Stree 2 set to clash with Pushpa 2, Khel Khel Mein and Vedaa at the box office, this Independence Day promises to be a thrilling time for cinema enthusiasts.
