Payal Kapadia created history by becoming the first Indian filmmaker to win the Grand Prix award at the Cannes Film Festival for her movie 'All We Imagine as Light'. The movie stars Kani Kusruti, Divya Prabha and Chhaya Kadam in the lead roles and received a lot of praise from the critics. The distribution rights of the movie have now been acquired by Rana Daggubati's Spirit Media.

Talking about the movie, Rana Daggubati told Variety, "After garnering love from audiences at festivals abroad, we are thrilled to bring Payal’s ‘All We Imagine as Light’ to Indian viewers. Our partnership with this incredible film is a step forward in our efforts to bring compelling and moving stories from different parts of the country to audiences everywhere.”

After winning the Grand Prix award, Payal said in her speech, "I’m very nervous, so I wrote something down. Thank you to the Cannes Film Festival for having our film here. Please don’t wait 30 years to have another Indian film."

She added, "This film is about friendship between three women and oftentimes, women are pitted against each other. This is the way society is designed, and that's really unfortunate. But for me friendship is a very important relationship because it can lead to greater solidarity, inclusivity and empathy towards each other. So, which is why these are the values I feel that we should always strive for."
