Ranbir Kapoor has always admired Aamir Khan, not just for his acting skills but also for his wisdom. Despite only sharing screen space briefly in Rajkumar Hirani's 2014 blockbuster sci-fi satire PK, Ranbir looks up to Aamir as a mentor. During a recent appearance on Nikhil Kamath's podcast People by WTF, Ranbir shared a valuable piece of advice on work-life balance that he received from Aamir. Ranbir recalled meeting Aamir Khan two years ago, where Aamir opened up about his regrets and lessons learned over his long career. “He was in tears,” Ranbir said. “I asked him what happened, and he told me, ‘I have spent 30 years of my life, and the only relationship I’ve had is with my audience. I don’t have a relationship with my children, my mother, or my ex-wife (Kiran Rao), who was his wife then.’”

Aamir’s words left a significant impact on Ranbir. “That’s what this profession takes. You have to give it all. The endeavour is to balance your reel life with your real life and not get swayed by ambition. I don’t want to get swayed by ambition,” Ranbir added.

Ranbir has taken this advice to heart. He is making a conscious effort to balance his work as an actor with his family life, ensuring he spends quality time with his wife, Alia Bhatt and their daughter, Raha Kapoor. Even amidst the busy shooting schedule for Nitesh Tiwari's Ramayana adaptation, Ranbir prioritizes his family time.

Aamir Khan has also reflected deeply on his work-life balance. Last year, on an episode of Koffee with Karan Season 8, he shared with host Karan Johar about his journey towards introspection. “A year ago, I went through a lot of introspection. I felt I did not nurture my relationships like my work. I realized that I’ve not spent so much time with Ira (daughter) and Junaid (son) since they were children.

Now, in the last few months, I’m a changed person. I connect more with my family, my children, Kiran’s parents, Reena’s (ex-wife) parents, my mother, sister and brother. I would have liked to spend much more time with them at the cost of my work. But at that time, I was just so passionately following what I was doing.”

Aamir’s son Junaid Khan recently made his Bollywood debut with Maharaj. His daughter Ira Khan got married earlier this year. Aamir will next be seen in Sitaare Zameen Par.
