A woman voicing her criticism over actor Ranbir Kapoor's leaked look from his upcoming film, Ramayana, has been subjected to cyberbullying and harassment by actor's fans. Nitesh Tiwari's rendition of Ramayana has sparked widespread discussion in Bollywood circles. Embarking on its filming journey earlier this month, this grand epic is hailed as one of the most financially ambitious projects in the history of cinema. Ranbir Kapoor takes on the role of Lord Rama, while Sai Pallavi portrays Sita.
Amid this, in a tweet posted on April 27, a woman responded to a critique of Ranbir's portrayal of Lord Ram, suggesting that his new look bore similarities to his appearances in 'Sanju' and 'Animal'. "Range so good i can't even find difference between three characters," she remarked, triggering a wave of online backlash from the actor's supporters. After her post, she disclosed that certain fans of Kapoor resorted to cyberbullying by manipulating her photographs into videos and images, distributing them online to defame her reputation.
The woman reached out to the @mpcyberpolice handle, seeking prompt action against the accounts responsible for harassing her and resorting to disturbing measures such as morphing her personal photos into 'obscene' videos. "not rk stans creating alt accounts, morphing my pictures and using vile and disgusting language all cuz i tweeted my opinion, these people are the shittiest to ever exist and you want me to stay silent over this??? this is not acceptable at all." She added, "now i get why people suicide over cyber bullying it can affect you so bad mentally."
Woman expresses her ordeal
Seeking assistance and intervention, she turned to her social media platform to express her distressing ordeal, consistently tagging the cybercrime unit while presenting screenshots and links to the accounts responsible for her morphed photos and videos. She wrote, "I am reaching out in dire need of assistance, I am a victim of online harassment. My personal pictures are being morphed and edited obscenely without my consent, causing distress and harm. I am attaching all the images as proofs here. These people are constantly harassing me and editing pictures in obscene videos in a very shameful manner, even after calling out they did not stop and have been harassing me since yesterday till now, I can share the original videos and pictures in dms. These are the links of the tweet that are still up and are created today even after complaining and posting about the harassment that I faced."
"I have filled 2 cyber crime complaints online as well but haven't got any response back, i can provide the original pdfs in dm @mpcyberpolice. I kindly request your immediate intervention and assistance in investigating this matter. I have attached evidence, including screenshots and links to the edited images, for your reference.
