Sabrina Carpenter, known for her chart-topping hits, recently revealed that she has some regrets about writing Espresso, despite its massive success. The song, featured on her Short n' Sweet album, has become one of her biggest hits, amassing over 1.9 billion streams on Spotify. However, while fans continue to love the track, Carpenter now finds performing it a challenge.

During a recent conversation, a clip of which has gone viral, Carpenter shared that Espresso is difficult to perform live because of its breath control requirements and intricate notes. She explained that while recording in the studio, the song felt fun and exciting, but once she had to perform it on stage, she realized how demanding it was.

"Espresso is a little harder for me because of the short breath control and just how precise some of the notes are," she said, as per The Mirror US. "When I was in the studio, I was like, 'This is fun, I love this song.' And then once I got on stage, I was like, 'This is kind of hard—why did I write this song?'"

Carpenter’s confession sparked mixed reactions among netizens. Some fans found her honesty relatable, with one user commenting, "Performing on stage is so different from just making music." Another added, "This is the realest thing ever."

However, others questioned her choice of words, noting that Espresso had multiple co-writers. One comment read, "She didn’t even write that song… what’s she talking about?" Another user shared their own experience, saying, "I found this out at karaoke."

Despite her challenges with Espresso, Carpenter has been thriving musically. She recently wrapped up her Short n' Sweet world tour and in February 2025, released a deluxe version of the album featuring a highly anticipated duet with country legend Dolly Parton.
