Sanam Teri Kasam directors Radhika Rao and Vinay Sapru condemned Pakistani actors for their silence or controversial statements on cross-border terrorism amid the ongoing tensions between India and Pakistan, which escalated in the wake of the terror attack in Pahalgam. This comes after actor Harshvardhan Rane declined to be a part of the movie’s sequel if the producers bring back the same cast. His reaction came after his co-star, Pakistani actress Mawra Hocane, criticised India's Operation Sindoor attack on Pakistan.
Sanam Teri Kasam directors slam Pakistan actors
India launched Operation Sindoor, a strategic military operation against terrorist bases throughout Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Jammu and Kashmir, days after deadly terror attack in Pahalgam, which claimed the lives of 26 civilians. This action of Indian armed forces were slammed by several Pakistani celebritties including Fawad Khan, Mahira Khan and Mawra Hocane. In response to this, Radhika Rao and Vinay Sapru, in a statement quoted by Hindustan Times, “Innocent Indian lives continue to be lost to decades of cross-border terrorism. What’s even more disheartening is the silence or worse, the statements of Pakistani actors who have worked in India, receiving love, respect, and opportunity."
Standing by the government's decision on banning Pakistani actors in India, they added,“We fully agree with our government’s decision: Not a single rupee should be paid. Not a single minute of our time as a nation should be offered. Not a single Indian platform should engage with them. What matters most is our nation and the welfare of our people. Nation First Always!" The decision to restrict Pakistani actors from the Indian entertainment industry has been taken by the Federation of Western Indian Cine Employees (FWICE) after the attack in Pahalgam.
Harshvardhan Rane On Mawra Hocane's Statements
On Saturday, Harshvardhan took to his Instagram story and slammed Hocane's remark, which stated, "Strongly condemn India’s cowardly attack on Pakistan…Innocent civilians have lost their lives". In response, he wrote, “While I am grateful for the experience however as things stand, and after reading the direct comments made about my country, I have made a decision to respectfully decline to be a part of 'Sanam Teri Kasam' part 2 if there is any possibility of the previous cast being repeated.”

He added, “I respect all artists and humans of this country, that country, Kenya and even Mars, but this kind of derogatory remark about my country by anyone is unpardonable. Am okay with losing out on followers on Instagram, but won’t allow anyone to walk over the pride and upbringing. Standing by your country is good, but disrespectful, hate remarks about other countries are not.”
