Sandeep Reddy Vanga is one of the filmmakers remembered for delivering the movie Arjun Reddy, which was unconventional at the time of its release. Starring Vijay Deverakonda in the lead, the film, despite controversy over its alleged portrayal of toxic masculinity, gained widespread popularity and critical acclaim. Reflecting on the game-changing moment after the first teaser of the film was released, the director stated that his phone was flooded with messages.
Sandeep Reddy Vanga recently appeared on Komal Nahta's podcast, where he discussed his journey in the film industry and the one film that became a game changer for him as a director. Revealing that Arjun Reddy was that movie, he said, "The teaser was released on February 14, 2017, and that was a game-changing moment for me and Vijay Deverakonda. It was a game-changing day. So, at 7 o'clock, we released the teaser. Vijay and I literally pressed the button together on my laptop."
Recalling the moment, he added, "After 1-2 hours, my phone was jammed with messages. That day, we felt this film was going somewhere. The teaser was a bigger movement than the film itself because we saw that the effect of the teaser release was more than expected.”
About Arjun Reddy Movie
The film was released in 2017 and garnered massive success. It was also remade into several languages, including in Hindi cinema as Kabir Singh, starring Shahid Kapoor and Kiara Advani, which was helmed by Sandeep Reddy Vanga himself. The film's plot revolves around a surgeon whose addiction to alcohol and anger issues leads to chaos in his professional life. The main character, Arjun Reddy Deshmukh (Vijay Deverakonda), struggles with anger issues and heartbreak after his girlfriend marries someone else, eventually spiraling into a self-destructive path.
Meanwhile, Sandeep Reddy Vanga is all set to release his next movie, Spirit, starring Prabhas.
