India mourns the loss of Dr. Manmohan Singh, the former Prime Minister and one of the most respected leaders in the country’s history. He passed away on December 26, 2024, at the age of 92. Dr. Singh breathed his last at the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) in New Delhi after battling age-related health issues.

In a statement, AIIMS shared that Dr. Singh lost consciousness at home and was rushed to the hospital. Despite resuscitative efforts, he could not be revived and was declared dead at 9:51 PM.

Known as the architect of India’s economic liberalization, Dr. Singh’s contributions transformed the nation’s economy. His humility, wisdom, and integrity earned him admiration across the globe. Tributes poured in from all corners, including heartfelt messages from Bollywood celebrities.

Actor Manoj Bajpayee expressed his grief, writing, “Saddened by the passing of our former Prime Minister. A statesman whose contributions in every aspect of our nation’s growth will always be remembered. My heartfelt condolences to his family. #RIPDrManmohanSingh.”

Sunny Deol highlighted Dr. Singh’s role in shaping India’s economic landscape, stating, “I’m deeply saddened by the passing of Dr. Manmohan Singh, a visionary leader who played a pivotal role in shaping India’s economic liberalization. His wisdom, integrity & contributions to the nation’s growth will always be remembered. My heartfelt condolences.”

Comedian Kapil Sharma also paid tribute, sharing, “India has lost one of its finest leaders today. Dr. Manmohan Singh, the architect of India’s economic reforms and a symbol of integrity and humility, leaves behind a legacy of progress and hope. Rest in peace, Dr. Singh. Your contributions will never be forgotten.”

Nimrat Kaur described him as a “scholar-statesman” and wrote, “A scholar-statesman, an architect of India’s economic reforms, his peerless wisdom and humility has left an indelible mark on the fabric of our nation. Rest in grace and glory Dr. Manmohan Singh ji. Satnaam wahe guru.”

Riteish Deshmukh shared personal memories, posting photos of Dr. Singh with his father, Vilasrao Deshmukh. He wrote, “Today we have lost one of India’s finest Prime Ministers. The man who propelled India’s economic growth. He epitomised dignity and humility. We will forever be indebted to his legacy. May his soul rest in eternal glory. Thank you Shri Manmohan Singh ji.”

Randeep Hooda tweeted, “Deeply saddened by the passing of Dr. Manmohan Singh, former Prime Minister of India, whose dignified leadership and pivotal role in India’s economic liberalization transformed the nation. His wisdom and integrity will be remembered forever. My heartfelt condolences to his family. Om Shanti #DrManmohanSingh.”

Filmmaker Madhur Bhandarkar wrote, “The passing of Dr. Manmohan Singh ji marks the end of an era. As the architect of India's economic reforms, his dedication to public service has shaped modern India. My deepest condolences to his family members & admirers.” Actor Sanjay Dutt also expressed his sorrow, tweeting, “Deeply saddened by the loss of Dr. Manmohan Singh Ji. His contributions to India will never be forgotten.”

Disha Patani added, “Dr. Manmohan Singh, former Prime Minister, was a visionary leader who transformed India's economy. His wisdom and contributions will always be remembered. The nation will deeply miss him. My condolences to his family.” Diljit Dosanjh also shared a photo of the former prime minister and wrote, "Oh Waheguru" in his Instagram stories.
