Former Prime Minister Dr Manmohan Singh passed away at the age of 92 on December 26. The politician was admitted to AIIMS, Delhi after he lost consciousness at home today. He was undergoing treatment for age-related conditions. The statement by AIIMS read, “Resuscitative measures were started immediately at home. He was brought to the Medical Emergency at AIIMS at 8.06 PM. Despite all efforts, he could not be revived and was declared dead at 9.51 PM.” As the whole nation mourns the Former PM’s death, here is know about his biopic The Accidental Prime Minister which is streaming online. 

About The Accidental Prime Minister

The 2019 political drama explores Dr Manmohan Singh’s tenure as Prime Minister. It also highlighted the interference of his political party (Congress) in contradictory decisions that were made during the tenure. The movie further showcases how Dr Manmohan Singh fell victim to the Congress Party's dynastic approach. The political drama features Anupam Kher, Akshaye Khanna, Suzanne Bernert, Aahana Kumra, Divya Seth, Ajit Satbhai, Ram Avtar and Arjun Mathur in key roles. It was directed by Vijay Gutte and produced by Sunil Bohra and Dhaval Gada. The movie was released in theatres on January 11, 2019. The film was made on a budget of around Rs 18 crore, as per reports. It had a net collection of Rs 20.22 crore and the worldwide collection is Rs 26.50 crore. 

During one of his promotions of the film, Anupam Kher told Hindustan Times, “Dr. Manmohan Singh is not a very expressive person. You have never seen him laughing loudly. You have never seen him angry. His face is the same, whether he is expressing hurt, anger, disgust, pleasure or happiness. That means I had to internalise the whole thing.” He also added that it as ‘one of the most difficult roles’ he has ever essayed.”
