Sanjay Leela Bhansali is presently reveling in the acclaim for his recently premiered web series, 'Heeramandi: The Diamond Bazaar'. This series, delving into the lives of courtesans, has sparked widespread discussion since its debut. Now, his focus may shift towards bringing to fruition 'Inshallah' and the biopic of Sahir Ludhianvi, which reportedly planned to star Salman Khan and Alia Bhatt.

According to reports, SLB expressed uncertainty about when he would undertake the project, but it will be a spontaneous decision. The director told Pinkvilla, "Now, as the 4th, 5th, and 6th unfold, you’ll get to know, right now, I can’t speak. I really don’t know what I’ll make, when I’ll make it, it’s a very spontaneous decision. I’ll be making Gangubai and suddenly I put the script down and say ‘Ram Leela’. So I’ll be suddenly making Inshallah, and I’ll say ‘No, Gangubai (Kathiawadi).’ So I feel it’s about the inner calling of the filmmaker, the inner calling that comes from deep down that ‘ye banao’."

He added, "Then I am full on onto the project, then I am into the film, and I am making it like it’s me, my soul has to survive, us kisam ki commitment! It’s with everything, so I can’t make a film with because it sounds good on the paper or it’s a good cast, it has to come from deep within to want to make the film, so what I’ll make (I don’t know).'

The movie brings together Bhansali and Salman Khan after a 17-year gap and also marks the filmmaker’s first collaboration with Vicky Kaushal. The film is scheduled for release on Christmas 2025.

Regarding his work, SLB upcoming project 'Love & War,' featuring Alia Bhatt, Ranbir Kapoor, and Vicky Kaushal, is set for release in January 2024. Bhansali shared that he has composed a song for the film without a specific placement in mind, but he is determined to incorporate it. He emphasised that the film would feel incomplete without this song and expressed confidence in finding the perfect spot for it.
