Shah Rukh Khan, the Bollywood superstar, faced criticism for a comment he made towards South superstar Ram Charan during the pre-wedding festivities of Anant Ambani and Radhika Merchant. Celebrities from both national and international spheres graced the three-day pre-wedding celebrations of Anant Ambani and Radhika Merchant in Jamnagar. Among the notable attendees were Amitabh Bachchan, Rajinikanth, Salman Khan, Aamir Khan, Ram Charan, Alia Bhatt, Ranveer Singh, Deepika Padukone, Rani Mukerji, Karisma Kapoor, Kareena Kapoor, Saif Ali Khan and numerous others.
During the event, audiences witnessed a rare moment as the three Khans—Salman, Shah Rukh, and Aamir—reunited on stage after a long time to deliver a brief dance performance on stage. They danced on Ram Charan and Jr Ntr's RRR song 'Naatu Naatu.' Eventually, the RRR actor himself joined them on stage, and together they all performed the hook step of the song.
While inviting Ram onto the stage to join them in dancing, the Bollywood superstar uttered some words, following which, the makeup artist Zeba Hassan took to her social media account, alleging disrespect towards the South actor. Sharing a clip she wrote, "I’m a huge SRK fan, but I really disliked the way he called Ram Charan on stage."
Shahrukh Khan is being insensitive by referring to Ram Charan as "idli," which could be perceived as a racial stereotype against South Indians. SHAME ON YOU @iamsrk#RamCharan pic.twitter.com/kUFRd6fTUj

This action, deemed disrespectful by Zeba, prompted her to leave the event. "Bhend idly vada Ram charan kahan hai tu (Saying names of snacks, Ram Charan where are you) I walked out after this. So disrespectful towards a star like @alwaysramcharan." Later, she posted a statement on Instagram, which she eventually deleted. A portion of it stated, It's ironic how people want to underpay "us simply because we're from South India, whereas they're okay to pay triple the amount for the same thing to an artist if that artist is Delhi or Mumbai based." Several others too called out SRK for calling Ram 'idli'. A person tweeted, "Shahrukh Khan is being insensitive by referring to Ram Charan as 'idli', which could be perceived as a racial stereotype against South Indians." Another added, "Shah Rukh Khan being casually racist to Ram Charan who is South Indian by calling him idli."
However, supporters of the Bollywood star quickly came to his defense, asserting that he was reciting a dialogue from his film 'One 2 Ka 4'. In this film, he co-starred with actor Jackie Shroff.
