Shanaya Kapoor, daughter of actor Sanjay Kapoor and Maheep Kapoor, was set to make her big Bollywood debut with Bedhadak, a film produced by Karan Johar’s Dharma Productions. However, when the movie was shelved after its 2022 announcement, Shanaya was left deeply affected, according to her mother Maheep Kapoor.
In the latest season of Fabulous Lives Vs Bollywood Wives, Maheep Kapoor opened up to Karan Johar about the emotional toll the cancellation had on her daughter. During the conversation, Maheep shared that Shanaya was "traumatized" when the movie was shelved and Karan had to intervene to help her through the difficult period. Maheep added, “Shanaya’s film didn’t start. She was traumatized. You had to intervene.”
The discussion also touched on personal struggles faced by Maheep, including her health challenges. She revealed that she had contracted COVID-19 during the pandemic, which led to concerns for her elderly parents and her daughter, Shanaya. The situation worsened with the loss of Maheep’s house help, Rekha, leaving her emotionally drained.

Amidst this, Maheep also mentioned a strained relationship with her friend Seema Sajdeh, which was addressed in the same episode. Seema expressed her frustration, stating that while she wanted to support Maheep during her tough times, she felt that Maheep wasn’t allowing her to be there for her.
Despite the setbacks, Shanaya is now gearing up for a fresh start. She recently shared her excitement about working on films again. Though Bedhadak did not take off, Shanaya will now make her debut in the Telugu-Malayalam film Vrushabha, alongside superstar Mohanlal. The new project has given her hope and renewed enthusiasm for her acting career. Shanaya's original Bollywood debut alongside Gurfateh Pirzada and Lakshya was highly anticipated, but she has now embraced the opportunity to work in a multilingual project, marking a new chapter in her journey.
