Sharman Joshi, known for his role as Raju in the film '3 Idiots,' during a recent interview provided an update on the much-anticipated sequel. According to Joshi, director Rajkumar Hirani has already engaged in discussions regarding the film's storyline. Joshi emphasised that Hirani is committed to maintaining the high quality of the plot, and they are optimistic that the sequel will come to fruition in the near future.
"We often exchanged a few ideas that we have had before, but never really took them too far. As you all know, Rajkumar Hirani has some potential in terms of very good work on the sequel, but as we all know, Hirani sir does not compromise at any level in terms of story, quality and standards. So, we are all just hoping that it will happen," Sharman told India Today.
Earlier this year, there was a buzz surrounding a potential sequel to the film '3 Idiots' when Aamir Khan, Sharman Joshi, and R Madhavan reunited for an advertisement. However, the commercial was mistakenly interpreted by many as an official announcement for '3 Idiots 2'. Joshi reflected on the incident and acknowledged that fans were deeply disappointed when they realised it was just an ad.
Some fans even expressed their frustration. Despite the misunderstanding, Joshi found it exciting to be back together with his co-stars after a long time. He also appreciated the investment made for the campaign, considering it a beautiful endeavour.
Previously as well, Joshi had discussed the possibility of a sequel to the cult film. In an interview with DNA last month, the actor had revealed that Hirani is well aware of the love for the film and is hesitant to disappoint the audience. Joshi mentioned that Hirani had shared a few ideas with him regarding the sequel. However, in subsequent discussions, Hirani expressed that those ideas did not materialise as expected.
