Sholay: It's been almost 50 years since the evergreen movie Sholay, featuring Amitabh Bachchan, Hema Malini and Dharmendra in lead roles, was released, but it still continues to resonate with audiences for its storyline. Ramesh Sippy's direction still brings smiles to people's faces with its iconic dialogues and soundtracks. Several movies were released in the 1990s, but Sholay remained one of the most cherished films in Indian cinema. Released in 1975, the movie's scenes continue to trend on social media. Now, years later, a ticket from the movie is going viral and the price of the initial screening of the film is sparking widespread amazement.

Sholay's Journey In Cinema

The multi-starrer film, which hit the theatres in 1975, did not receive immediate success. Eventually, Sholay cemented its place in moviegoers' hearts and in Bollywood's history. When the film was released, the cinema halls were completely empty, which made Ramesh Sippy consider re-shooting the climax to attract more people to the theatres. However, the film gradually gained momentum after the songs, including Jab Tak Hai Jaan and Koi Haseena Jab Rooth Jati Hai, became chartbusters within three days of the film's release.
The movie was reportedly made on a budget of Rs 3 crore, one of the most expensive Indian productions of that time. The Amitabh Bachchan and Dharmendra starrer initially received a mixed response when it was first released but later broke all records and became a hit. The film ended up earning Rs 35 crore, becoming the highest-grossing movie. This happened after Sholay was continuously screened in theatres for five years.

Sholay's Viral Ticket

The action-adventure movie Sholay will celebrate its 50th anniversary this year. Ahead of this, a ticket from the movie is surfacing online. The price of the movie ticket then is shocking moviegoers, who now spend thousands of rupees in theatres for tickets, food, and beverages. In 1975, the ticket prices for the lower stall, middle stall and balcony in theatres were minimal. Check out the price below:
