Zubeen Garg's admirers gathered outside his home in Guwahati, Assam, on Sunday ahead of his funeral. The body was received at the airport by his wife, Garima Saikia Garg, and high-ranking state government representatives. Through the VIP exit at Lokpriya Gopinath Bordoloi International Airport, the lifeless remains were removed in an ambulance decorated with flowers. Outside the airport, thousands of admirers could be heard yelling, Jai Zubeen da and singing his songs as the convoy made its way through the crowd. Security guards were stationed outside the late singer's home.  

The popular Assamese musician Zubeen Garg, sometimes known as the 'King of Humming,' passed away unexpectedly in Singapore on September 19 and was honoured by emotional admirers throughout Assam. Several people waited outside the Lokpriya Gopinath Bordoloi International Airport to receive Zubeen Garg's remains. A fight broke out in the crowd on Saturday, and the police used a light lathi charge to break it up, according to PTI.

People from all over the state have travelled to Guwahati to pay their final respects to their favourite singer, Zubeen Garg, who has captivated them with over 38,000 songs performed in 40 languages and dialects over the past three decades.

According to Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma, who traveled to Delhi to take Zubeen Garg's body, the singer's casket was transported to Guwahati from Delhi on an ordinary flight since it was too big to fit on any charter aircraft.

Zubeen Garg's family members were to pay their final respects for almost one and a half hours at his home, according to PTI. Following this, the remains will be moved to the Arjun Bhogeswar Baruah Sports Complex, where visitors can pay their respects from 9 AM to 7 PM.

The Assam government will confer with Garg's family and several organisations over the singer's last rites, although the specifics have not yet been finalised. The location of the cremation will be decided at a meeting of the state Cabinet on Sunday evening.
