Song Joong Ki, the beloved star of Vincenzo and Descendants of the Sun, is set to grace the small screen once again with the upcoming romance drama My Youth. This highly anticipated series will see him team up with Chun Woo Hee, known for her captivating performances in The Atypical Family and The 8 Show. The duo was initially rumoured to star in the drama, but as of August 21, 2024, production company HighZium Studio has officially confirmed their roles as the lead actors.

My Youth is a romance drama that centres on the characters Sunwoo Hae and Sung Je Yeon. Song Joong Ki will portray Sunwoo Hae, a novelist and florist who once enjoyed fame as a child actor. However, his journey was marred by the greed of adults, leading to a tragic downfall in his career. Now, as an adult, Sunwoo is trying to start a new chapter in his life, leaving behind the chaos of his past.

Chun Woo Hee will play Sung Je Yeon, a team leader at Feel Entertainment. Born into an affluent family, she experienced luxury until a series of losses forced her to rely solely on herself. Determined to succeed, she disrupts Sunwoo Hae's life as she works towards her goals. As they navigate their complicated relationship, both characters undergo significant transformations, adding depth to their individual arcs.

My Youth is penned by Park Si Hyun, the talented writer behind the much-loved drama Run On (available on Netflix). The series will be directed by Lee Sang Yeop, renowned for his work on Yumi's Cells, Shopaholic Louis and Familiar Wife. With such an impressive creative team, My Youth promises to deliver a heartfelt and engaging story.

In addition to the main leads, My Youth has attracted other talented actors. Lee Joo Myung, known for her role in Twenty-Five Twenty-One, is also set to join the cast. Though her character details remain under wraps, there is growing excitement to see her in this new role. Additionally, Seo Ji Hoon, who gained fame through his roles in School 2017, Revenge of Others and My Lovely Liar, will also be part of the cast. His character is yet to be fully revealed, adding to the anticipation surrounding the drama.

While the exact release date and broadcasting network for My Youth are still under wraps, the series is slated to premiere in 2025. Fans of Song Joong Ki and Chun Woo Hee eagerly await more details, as the drama promises to be a moving exploration of love, loss and personal growth.
