South OTT Releases This Week (Sep 16 To 22):  This week is going to be full of entertainment as some of the biggest hits are coming your way. Some of the most anticipated web series and movies in Tamil, Telugu and Malayalam have been scheduled to be released this week. From web shows like Thalaivettiyaan Paalayam to Vikram’s Thangalaan movie, you can watch anything at any point of time and anywhere. Check out the list of South movies and web series releasing this week on popular OTT platforms like Netflix, Prime Video, Hotstar, JioCinema, Zee5, Sun NXT and other streaming sites. 

Thalaivettiyaan Paalayam (Prime Video)

The Tamil remake of the popular Hindi web series Panchayat will start streaming this week on Prime Video. Abishek Kumar will be playing the role of Jitendra Kumar in the Tamil version of Panchayat. Thalaivettiyaan Paalayam will start streaming from September 20 on Prime Video. 

Thangalaan (Netflix)

Chiyaan Vikram’s Tamil movie was released in theatres on August 15. The film is based on true events which showcase the lives of mine workers who live in Karnataka’s Kolar Gold Fields. The movie also stars Parvathy Thiruvothu, Malavika Mohanan, Daniel Caltagirone, Pasupathi and Arjun Anbudan in prominent roles. Thangalaan will start streaming from September 20 on Netflix. 

Lal Salaam (Sun NXT)

Rajinikanth’s Tamil movie was released in theatres on February 9 this year. The movie revolves around aspiring cricketers who were thrown out of their local team despite their talent. It then focuses on their struggle to achieve their dreams. It features Rajinikanth, Vishnu Vishal, Ananthika Sanilkumar, Dhanya Balakrishna, Nirosha Radha and Tanisa Islam Mahi in pivotal roles. Lal Salaam will be streaming on Sun NXT from September 20.

Maruthi Nagar Subramanyam (Aha)

Ankith Koyya’s Telugu movie was released in theatres on August 23, 2024. The comedy-drama revolves around a father and son’s experience after they gain sudden wealth. It leads to comical circumstances about how they will navigate such a big amount of money. The movie stars Ankith Koyya, Ramya Pasupuleti, Rao Ramesh and Indraja in prominent roles. Maruthi Nagar Subramanyam will be releasing on Aha on September 20. 

1000 Babies (Disney Plus Hotstar)

Rahman’s upcoming Malayalam web series is all set to stream online this month. The show will focus on mass infanticide in a town in Kerala. It will further highlight the lack of health facilities in the town. The show also stars Neena Gupta, Sanju Sivaram, Ashwin Kumar, Adil Ibrahim, Shaju Sreedhar, and Sreekanth Balachandran in prominent roles. The show will be streaming on Malayalam, Hindi, Telugu, and Tamil. As per reports, 1000 Babies will be released on Disney Plus Hotstar from September 20.
