Star Box Office Collection Day 5: Released on May 10, 2024, the Tamil romantic drama Star, written and directed by Elan, presents a captivating tale of ambition and perseverance. The film stars Kavin in the lead role, with notable performances by Lal, Aaditi Pohankar, Preity Mukhundhan, and Geetha Kailasam. Star made a strong debut in India, grossing over Rs 2.8 crore on its opening day. However, weekday collection saw a huge decline.

On its fifth day, Star earned approximately 1.05 crore in net earnings across India. On Tuesday, May 14, 2024, the film saw an overall Tamil occupancy rate of 19.57%. The breakdown of occupancy throughout the day was as follows: morning shows had a 15.24% occupancy rate, afternoon shows 20.59%, evening shows 18.45%, and night shows 24.01%. The narrative follows Kalai, a determined individual striving to fulfill his acting dreams despite numerous challenges. Produced by B. V. S. N. Prasad and Sreenidhi Sagar, this film is a collaboration between Sri Venkateswara Cine Chitra and Rise East Entertainment.
About Star
Star features a talented cast led by Kavin, who plays Kalai, an aspiring actor. Lal and Geetha Kailasam take on the roles of Kalai's parents, while Aaditi Pohankar and Preity Mukhundhan portray the characters Jimikky and Meera Malaikodi, respectively. Initially, Harish Kalyan was cast in the lead role, but Kavin later replaced him. The project, originally titled 'Kavin's Next,' commenced in August 2023 and was subsequently renamed. Principal photography, mainly conducted in Chennai, wrapped up by mid-February 2024. The film's music is composed by Yuvan Shankar Raja, with cinematography by Ezhil Arasu K and editing by Pradeep E. Ragav.
In June 2019, Harish Kalyan was anticipated to collaborate with director Elan on his next project, which was reportedly being produced by Amma Creations. Director Elan confirmed the project in December 2020, with Yuvan Shankar Raja set to compose the music. However, by July 2021, reports indicated that the project was shelved due to creative differences. In August 2023, Kavin replaced Kalyan as the lead, with producers B. V. S. N. Prasad and Rise East Entertainment joining the production.
