The altercation between Kapil Sharma and Sunil Grover is a well-known incident. It occurred in 2017 when reports emerged of an argument between the two comedians while they were traveling together on a flight. This incident led to Grover's exit from 'The Kapil Sharma Show,' where he played prominent characters like Dr. Mashoor Gulati. Now, Sunil has shared insights into his feud with Kapil, humorously suggesting that it was merely 'a publicity stunt' they had for Netflix long before the streaming giant's arrival in India.

Kapil and Sunil, who have reunited after seven years for The Great Indian Kapil Show, recently addressed their infamous altercation during a press conference preceding the show's premiere. Sunil jokingly referenced their previous spat, implying that it was all part of a pre-planned scheme conceived years ago. "We were sitting on the flight and got wind of Netflix's impending launch in India. (So, kuch aisa ho ke (acha) publicity stunt ho) So, we thought, let's stage a publicity stunt," Sunil remarked.

The sunflower actor even quipped that Netflix India had reached out to them, seeking their input on potential ideas, which led to the concept they devised. Kapil elaborated, mentioning that Sunil had been occupied with numerous projects, including various series and endeavors, which hindered their reunion.

Sunil expressed that his return felt like coming home, as he enjoyed collaborating with Kapil and his team once again. Meanwhile, the teasers have already unveiled Sunil's comeback as Gutthi. In the premiere episode, he will host Ranbir Kapoor, Riddhima Kapoor Sahani and Neetu Kapoor. Along with them, Aamir Khan, Diljit Dosanjh and cricketer Rohit Sharma will be joining the episode.

Kapil Sharma and Sunil Grover

The rift between the two actor-comedians occurred in October 2017, reportedly during a flight journey back to Mumbai after completing a show in Australia. Reportedly, Kapil Sharma was allegedly intoxicated during the altercation and went physical with Sunil. The fallout garnered significant media attention and sparked widespread debate among fans and industry insiders. While Kapil Sharma publicly apologised to Sunil Grover on social media, the latter maintained his distance from Sharma and the show.

Despite the rift, both comedians have continued their respective careers, with Kapil Sharma continuing to host his comedy show and Sunil Grover appearing in various television, OTT and film projects.
