VA Durai, who produced films like ‘Pithamagan’, ‘Looti’, and ‘Gajendra’ passed away due to severe health issues at the age of 59. He also worked as an executive producer in Rajinikanth led ‘Baba.’ The superstar paid him 51 Lakh rupees as salary for the film, after which he entered the industry as a full time producer. VA Durai was suffering from severe diabetes and got separated from his wife and daughter. He was residing alone in his house located in Virugambakkam. 

The late producer was treated at the hospital with the help of director SP Muthuraman and thus returned home a couple of days ago. However, a severe wound on his leg was not healed, due to which his condition got worse. Suffering from a financial crisis, the producer was not able to bear his medical expenses and became very slim due to his diabetic issues.

The producer also requested help from actor Rajinikanth, after which actor Suriya helped him by giving Rs 2 Lakh, and actor Karunas donated Rs 50,000 for his treatment. Actor Rajinikanth also inquired about the same and promised to help him.

VA Durai passed away around 9:00 PM on Monday, October 3, while he was receiving treatment at home. He had two wives, Vijayalakshmi and Lakshmi. With his first wife, he has two daughters, and with his second wife, he is survived by one daughter.
