Actor Suriya is gearing up for the release of his upcoming romantic action movie Retro. The movie also stars Pooja Hegde and is set to hit theatres on May 1, 2025. Amidst this, the actor announced his next Tamil project. Suriya is set to collaborate with Lucky Baskhar director Venky Atluri and producer Naga Vamsi for the tentatively titled Suriya 46.

During the pre-event of Retro in Hyderabad Suriya surprised his fans by announcing his new film. In the video shared by Sithara Entertainments on X, he can be heard saying, "I have to announce this today. The whole journey started with Allu Aravind garu. We are associating with Sithara Entertainment Vamsi garu and my dear brother Venky here. This will be my next. As you all have been asking, after a long time, with beautiful association and beautiful talent here, we will be doing my next Tamil film with dear Venky. I’ll be shooting a lot, I’ll be spending a lot of time here in beautiful Hyderabad."

Suriya will kick start the shooting of the movie from May. He revealed, "From May onwards, we start our next project. We need all your love and blessings and I am sure this will be a beautiful journey."

This news comes after the speculations about collaboration between Suriya and Venky Atluri and now it is official.

In 2024, Venky delivered the crime drama movie Lucky Baskhar starring Dulquer Salmaan, which was a success. The film also starred Meenakshi Chaudhary, Tinnu Anand, and P. Sai Kumar.

Suriya has an interesting lineup of films- Retro, where he will be seen playing a role of a gangster role and how he decides to live a peaceful life with a blend of romance. Directed by Karthik Subbaraj and produced by Kaarthekeyen Santhanam, Jyotika, and Suriya. The film also stars Pooja Hegde in the lead role alongside Suriya. The other cast includes Baby Aavni, Joju George, Jayaram, Karunakaran, Nassar, Prakash Raj, and Sujith Shankar.

Besides this, he also has Vaadivaasal with director Vetrimaran. The shoot is expected to start in June this year and Suriya 45, which is being helmed by R J Balaji.
