The review screening of Jana Nayagan, starring Vijay, which was scheduled to take place on Monday, has reportedly been postponed by the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC). The film will now be examined by a revising committee, which will watch it again before making a final decision regarding its certification. A CBFC board member will lead the screening, along with a new set of advisory panel members.

According to sources, the new date for the review screening has not yet been decided. Reports also suggest that the film’s production banner, KVN Productions, received an official notification about the postponement on Sunday.

The delay reportedly happened after a member of the committee fell ill. Notably, the film was initially scheduled to release on January 9, but its launch was pushed due to ongoing certification issues.

The makers of Jana Nayagan had earlier stated that a committee of the Central Board of Film Certification reviewed the film in December 2025 and suggested certain cuts, which were implemented. However, the issue resurfaced after a member of the original panel filed a complaint alleging that the film hurt the sentiments of some religious groups and used armed forces logos without consultation.

Following this, the CBFC chairperson referred the film to a revising committee for re-evaluation. Meanwhile, the producers, KVN Productions, had approached the Madras High Court challenging the decision but later sought to withdraw the petition. The film stars Vijay along with Mamitha Baiju, Bobby Deol, Gautham Vasudev Menon, Prakash Raj, Priyamani, Pooja Hegde and Narain.
