Directed by Pa Ranjith, the cast includes Malavika Mohanan, Pasupathy, Daniel Caltagirone, Hari Krishnan Anbudurai, Vettai Muthukumar, Arjun Anbudan, and Sampath Ram.

Thangalaan Box Office Report

Released on August 15, the Tamil period action drama Thangalaan has garnered positive reviews. The film had an impressive first week, earning about ₹37.45 crore net in India. On its eighth day, it collected approximately ₹1.27 crore. On August 22, 2024, the occupancy rates were 11.83% for morning shows, 16.47% for afternoon shows, 14.72% for evening shows, and 16.22% for night shows, resulting in an overall Tamil occupancy of 14.81%.

While the film has achieved commercial success, it didn't dominate the box office entirely due to its competition with Raghu Thatha and Demonte Colony 2.

About Thangalaan

Thangalaan is inspired by the true story of tribal communities living in the KGF during the British gold mining era. Vikram stars as the tribal leader who assists a British colonel in locating gold by sacrificing his own village for the benefit of his people, only to confront the wrath of a vengeful antagonist. The film has attracted significant attention and positive reviews and continues to perform well in theaters.

Talking about the film, Director Pa Ranjith told HT, "It’s an interesting film that takes place during the colonial period. It’s set in the KGF gold mines and about the freedom the oppressed people, who worked in the mines, wanted. Was their leader able to fulfill their wishes? The story revolves around this."
