Thangalaan OTT Release: Chiyaan Vikram’s Thangalaan hit the theatres on August 15, 2024 in standard, 3D and EPIQ formats. The movie raked in mixed reviews from fans and critics alike post its release. It even received criticism for the historical inaccuracies, visual effects, screenplay and writing. Thangalaan failed to perform good at the box office. Despite its poor box office performance, the audience awaits its OTT release.

Thangalaan OTT Release Date

Thangalaan silently released in Tamil, Telugu, Malayalam, Kannada and Hindi on Netflix. It started streaming online on November 10, 2024.

Thangalaan, meaning Son of Gold, is a 2024 Tamil-language action-adventure film helmed by acclaimed director Pa. Ranjith, who co-wrote the screenplay with Tamil Prabha and Azhagiya Periyavan. Produced by K. E. Gnanavel Raja under Studio Green and Neelam Productions, the film boasts an impressive ensemble cast, including Vikram in a remarkable five roles, alongside Parvathy Thiruvothu, Malavika Mohanan, Daniel Caltagirone, Pasupathy, and Hari Krishnan.

Set against the backdrop of the British Raj era, the story follows a fearless tribal leader who embarks on a perilous quest to thwart an alleged sorceress, after incurring her wrath for aiding a British general in uncovering gold in their village.

The film's dismal box office performance has resulted in a staggering financial loss, with a meagre gross of merely 68 crore against a substantial budget of 150 crore, culminating in an estimated shortfall of a whopping 105 crore once ancillary costs are factored in, thereby solidifying its position as one of the most monumental box office debacles in cinematic history.
