The makers of John Wick film franchise’s spin-off series, The Continental: From the World of John Wick released the first look of the upcoming three part series on Wednesday. The series stars two time Oscar Award-winner Mel Gibson in the lead role for the first time in a television series.

The series is set in the 1970’s and explores the criminal underworld in New York City in the 1970’s. The Continental: From The World Of John Wick will be premiering in September 2023.

The official description of The Continental: From the World of John Wick read: “The three-part event will explore the origin behind the iconic hotel-for-assassins centrepiece of the John Wick universe through the eyes and actions of a young Winston Scott, as he’s dragged into the Hell-scape of 1970’s New York City to face a past he thought he’d left behind. Winston charts a deadly course through the hotel’s mysterious underworld in a harrowing attempt to seize the hotel where he will eventually take his future throne.”

Several netizens took to the comments section of the teaser to react to the video. One user wrote, “Time to find out if the John Wick world will work without Chad and Keanu.” Another comment read, “I wonder if Winston is gonna be the young version of the badass John Wick. Like the John Wick before there was John Wick.”

The Continental: From The World Of John Wick will feaure and entirely new cast from the film franchise and stars Mel Gibson, Collin Woodell as young Winston, Peter Greene, Ben Robson, Ayomide Adegun as the young concierge Charon (played by the late Lance Reddic), Nhung Kate and Katie McGrath.

Director Albert Hughes will be directing the first and third part of The Continental: From The World Of John Wick, while Charlotte Brandstrom will be helming the second part in the series.
