The Kerala Story Box Office Collection Day 23: Adah Sharma's film The Kerala Story has now crossed the Rs 200 crore mark at the box office. Despite facing numerous controversies upon its release on May 5, the film experienced a minor drop in its performance at the beginning of the third week. However, it has since regained momentum. Early estimates for the third week indicate that The Kerala Story performed well on Day 23.

Amidst various controversies, The Kerala Story made its theatrical debut on May 5. Overall, the film has been performing moderately well at the box office. On May 26, The Kerala Story recorded its lowest collection of Rs 2.50 crore since its release. However, on May 27, the film regained momentum, likely due to the weekend, and earned Rs 4.10 crore at the box office. With this, the total collection of the film now stands at Rs 220.07 crore.

About The Kerala Story:

The Kerala Story revolves around the journey of a Hindu woman from Kerala, played by Adah Sharma, who undergoes indoctrination to convert her to Islam. She is then sent to Syria where she is coerced into joining the ISIS terrorist organisation and subjected to torture. In addition to Adah Sharma, the film also stars Sonia Balani, Yogita Bihani, and Siddhi Idnani in important roles.

Directed by Sudipto Sen and produced by Vipul Amrutlal Shah, the film attracted scrutiny since the release of its trailer. The movie initially claimed that 32,000 women from Kerala were coerced into converting and subsequently joining the terrorist organisation Islamic State (ISIS). However, amidst the controversies surrounding the film, this number was later revised to three.

The film faced a shadow ban in Tamil Nadu, while the Chief Minister of West Bengal, Mamata Banerjee, also imposed a ban on its screening in the state.
