The Kerala Story Box Office Collection Day 22: The Kerala Story, helmed by Sudipto Sen, continues to maintain a steady pace at the box office. The film initially achieved remarkable success, joining the Rs 200-crore-club with excellent collections in its early weeks. However, now the film's earnings have been gradually declining.
Despite facing criticism and bans in some states, the audience has shown great appreciation for this film that revolves around a sensitive subject. Additionally, it has emerged as the second biggest hit of the year.
As per early estimates, on its 22nd day of release, the film amassed Rs 2.60 crores after earning Rs 3.1 crores on day 21. As a result, the film's overall collection has reached a total of Rs 216.07 crores in India.
About the Kerala Story:
The plot of The Kerala Story is centred on a Hindu woman from Kerala, portrayed by Adah Sharma, who undergoes indoctrination to convert to Islam and is subsequently sent to Syria where she is compelled to join the ISIS terrorist group and subjected to torture. Apart from Adha Sharma, the movie also features Sonia Balani, Yogita Bihani, and Siddhi Idnani in significant roles. It released in theatres on May 5.

Directed by Sudipto Sen and produced by Vipul Amrutlal Shah, the film attracted scrutiny since the release of its trailer. The movie initially claimed that 32,000 women from Kerala were coerced into converting and subsequently joining the terrorist organisation Islamic State (ISIS). However, amidst the controversies surrounding the film, this number was later revised to three.
The film faced a shadow ban in Tamil Nadu, while the Chief Minister of West Bengal, Mamata Banerjee, also imposed a ban on its screening in the state.

Earlier today, it was reported that the director Sudipto Sen has been hospitalised due to exhaustion caused by frequent travel and promotional activities. As a result, further city promotions for "The Kerala Story" have been temporarily postponed. Following his recovery, Sen intends to resume the promotional campaign and visit 10 cities as planned.
