According to a report by OTTplay, the producer of the film M. Renjith was in talks about the OTT deal with JioCinema (during the time of Disney-Reliance merger negotiations). But with streaming platforms being difficult to bargain with, the makers started to explore more options. The report further suggests that the OTT deal has been sold for a modest sum. Now, after months, a report by the Indian Express Malayalam suggests that the digital rights of the Malayalam film have been sold to JioHotstar. The buzz does not end here, as there is exciting news about the release date of the movie. Yes, as per a new report by Oneindia, Thudarum is slated to release on OTT on May 23 or May 30. However, there is no official confirmation about the streaming details yet.
About Thudarum
The plot revolves around a taxi driver, who leads a simple life with his family. But his happy life takes an unexpected turn when he has to prove how far he will go for what he holds dear. The movie stars Mohanlal as Shanmugham, Shobana as Lalitha (Shanmugham's wife), Prakash Varma as CI / DYSP George Mathan, Binu Pappu as SI Benny C Kurian, Amritha Varshini as Shanmugham's daughter and Farhaan Faasil as CPO Sudheesh in pivotal roles. It has been directed by Tharun Moorthy and produced by M. Renjith. The film has a runtime of 166 minutes. Thudarum was made on a budget of Rs 90 crore and collected Rs 56.90 crore after 8 days of release.
