Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah (TMKOC) producer Asit Kumarr Modi has confirmed that Dayaben’s character is set to return to the show. The popular television producer stated that the team has shortlisted some people for the role and it is not Disha Vakani (who earlier played the role of Dayaben). Modi further mentioned that their goal is to find someone like Vakani. He also said a few good words about the actress, who went on maternity leave in 2017 and never came back.
In an interview with The Indian Express, Asit Kumarr Modi said “We will definitely bring back the character of Daya Bhabhi. People say they haven’t enjoyed the show since Daya Bhabhi’s departure. I completely agree. Our entire team is trying to bring back the character of Daya Bhabhi to the show soon.”
“I have shortlisted some people for this role, and you will meet them soon. It’s been five years since Disha left the show, and we still miss her. She cared deeply for her fellow actors and the crew. Our goal is to find someone like Disha Vakani,” the producer added.
Earlier this year, Asit Kumarr Modi told News18, “I am still trying. I believe Disha Vakani can’t be back. She has two children. She is like my sister. Even today, we have a very close relationship with her family. My sister Disha Vakani has tied a Rakhi to me. Her father and brother are also family to me. You work together for 17 years, and it becomes your extended family.”
Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah stars Dilip Joshi, Amit Bhatt, Mandar Chandwadkar, Munmun Dutta, Tanuj Mahashabde and Sonalika Joshi in key roles. The show has been on air since July 28, 2008 on Sony SAB. It also simultaneously streams on SonyLIV.
