The Telugu-language epic action drama directed by SS Rajamouli, is set in the 1920s, it follows the fictionalised lives of two legendary revolutionaries, Alluri Sitarama Raju, played by Ram Charan and Komaram Bheem aka Jr NTR, as they fight against British colonial rule. The film showcases grand visuals, powerful performances, and a compelling narrative that blends action, friendship, and patriotism. With a stellar cast, including Alia Bhatt and Ajay Devgn, RRR received critical acclaim and became a massive box office success.

KGF (Amazon Prime Video)

The Kannada-language action film directed by Prashanth Neel, set in the 1970s and 1980s. It follows the story of Rocky, played by actor Yash, a young man who rises from poverty to become a powerful gangster in the Kolar Gold Fields. The film explores themes of ambition, power, and betrayal against a backdrop of crime and violence. KGF became a massive box office success, garnering a strong fanbase across India and beyond. Kantara (Amazon Prime Video)

The Kannada-language action thriller directed by Rishab Shetty, who also stars in the film. Set in the lush forests of Karnataka, it tells the story of a young man named Shiva, who faces conflicts over land rights and cultural traditions, ultimately leading to a clash between the local community and outside forces. The film weaves together elements of folklore, spirituality, and environmental themes. Kantara received widespread acclaim for its engaging storyline, strong performances and stunning visuals.

Thangalaan (Theaters, To release soon on OTT)

The Tamil-language action-adventure film directed by Pa. Ranjith, who co-wrote the screenplay with Tamil Prabha and Azhagiya Periyavan. Produced by K. E. Gnanavel Raja under Studio Green and Neelam Productions, the film stars Vikram in five roles, alongside Parvathy Thiruvothu, Malavika Mohanan, Daniel Caltagirone, Pasupathy and Hari Krishnan. Set during the British Raj, it follows a fierce tribal leader who seeks to confront a powerful sorceress after he aids a British general in locating gold in their village. The Hindi version released on September 6, 2024, became a sleeper hit, although overall, the film grossed ₹72–100 crore against a budget of ₹100–150 crore, ultimately being labeled a box-office flop.

GOAT (Netflix)

The Tamil-language action thriller directed by Venkat Prabhu and produced by AGS Entertainment, stars Vijay in a triple role alongside Prashanth, Prabhu Deva, Mohan, Jayaram, Ajmal Ameer and others. The story follows Gandhi, a former leader of an anti-terrorism squad, who reunites with his team to confront the repercussions of their past actions. The Greatest of All Time received mixed reviews from critics.

Kalki 2898 AD (Netflix/Amazon Prime Video)

The Telugu-language epic science fiction film directed by Nag Ashwin and produced by Vyjayanthi Movies. The film features an impressive cast, including Amitabh Bachchan, Kamal Haasan, Prabhas, Deepika Padukone, Shobana and Disha Patani. Drawing inspiration from Hindu scriptures, it is the first installment in a planned Kalki Cinematic Universe. Set in a post-apocalyptic world in 2898 AD, the story centers around a group on a mission to save the unborn child of lab subject SUM-80, named Kalki. With a production budget of ₹600 crore, it has become the most expensive Indian film ever made.
