As Tumbbad returns to theaters after six years, excitement is soaring with the announcement of its sequel, Tumbbad 2. Produced by Sohum Shah Films, the re-release has rekindled the film's magic and set new records. The film not only surpassed its original box office numbers but also became the first Indian film to outshine iconic classics like Sholay, Mughal-e-Azam, and Rockstar on its re-release opening day. This historic success further solidifies Tumbbad’s status as a timeless cinematic masterpiece.

Adding to the frenzy, the announcement of Tumbbad 2 was unveiled through a captivating video teaser. The teaser begins with Vinayak and his son Pandurang, accompanied by a chilling voiceover from Sohum Shah that sets a foreboding tone. The teaser says, "Samay ka pahiya gol hai, jo beet gaya woh fir laut ke aayega… darwaaza bhi ek baar phir khulega." As the video ends, the words "Pralay, Pralay phir aayega" echo, hinting at the epic scale of the upcoming sequel.

Sohum Shah, the actor and producer of the film, expressed his excitement: “Tumbbad has been a special journey and a labour of love for us, and to see the love it continues to receive is overwhelming and only ratifies our belief and ethos of Sohum Shah Films, that content is king. With Tumbbad 2, we want to push the cinematic experience and boundaries even further. Tumbbad 2 will take audiences deeper into the world we’ve created, with bigger twists and a more intense exploration of what happens when greed knows no limits.”

Fans can expect Tumbbad 2 to dive deeper into the fantasy folklore that made the original a cult favorite. With the sequel, Pralay Aayega hints at impending catastrophe, the makers promise an even more gripping narrative that builds on the dark, mythical universe of Tumbbad.

About Tumbbad

Released in 2018, Tumbbad initially struggled commercially due to its niche plot but has since garnered a cult following, being hailed as one of India's finest fantasy-horror films. It had a record-breaking advance booking for its re-release. The sory follows a father-son duo searching for a hidden treasure in the village of Tumbbad, Maharashtra.

Led by Vinayak Rao, the story unfolds within a decaying castle guarding an ancient, monstrous secret. Known for its unique blend of mythology, horror, and stunning visuals, Tumbbad reflects the dedicated efforts of its team. Producer and lead Sohum Shah revived the project in 2012 after it was shelved in 2008 due to financial issues.
