Tumbbad Re-Release Box Office Collection Day 3: Tumbbad’s re-release has achieved a remarkable box office milestone, matching the original film's first-week earnings in just three days. The 2018 horror fantasy film, directed by Rahi Anil Barve, initially garnered Rs 7.34 crore over its first week. However, during its recent re-release, Tumbbad has managed to replicate that figure within a mere 72 hours, showcasing the movie's lasting appeal and growing fan base.
The re-release kicked off with strong numbers, earning Rs 1.65 crore on Day 1 and seeing a significant jump to Rs 2.65 crore on Day 2. The upward momentum continued into Day 3, with the film collecting Rs 3.04 crore, bringing its total earnings to Rs 7.34 crore. This achievement underscores how the film's unique narrative and stunning visuals continue to resonate with audiences, even years after its initial release.
Directed by Rahi Anil Barve and creatively guided by Anand Gandhi, Tumbbad has captivated audiences with its rich, atmospheric storytelling and innovative approach to the horror fantasy genre. The movie follows the story of a man obsessed with finding a hidden treasure in a cursed village, weaving together myth, folklore and human greed in a visually striking narrative. The film’s re-release, backed by Eros International and Aanand L Rai, has reignited excitement among fans and critics alike, bringing new viewers to the theatre while delighting long-time admirers.

The film’s lack of availability on major OTT platforms has further driven audiences back to the cinema, emphasizing the importance of experiencing Tumbbad on the big screen, where its detailed visual effects and immersive atmosphere truly shine.
Among recent re-releases, Tumbbad has set new trends, becoming the first film to collect Rs 7.34 crore within just three days of its second theatrical run. Comparatively, re-released films like Rockstar and Laila Majnu performed decently, but their lifetime collections barely crossed Rs 10 crore. In contrast, Tumbbad has already earned 50 per cent of its original lifetime box office total within the first weekend, signalling a potential resurgence for re-released films.
Made on a budget of Rs 15 crore, the 2018 release of Tumbbad grossed Rs 13.50 crore, a figure that led to its commercial status being labelled as a 'flop' at the time. However, the current re-release is poised to turn the tables, with the film now on track to potentially recover its production cost and even achieve box office success. If the movie continues its current trend, it could earn an additional Rs 6 crore over the next few days, possibly securing a hit or even superhit status.
Tumbbad 2 has been officially announced, with actor Sohum Shah confirming that the sequel is currently in development. The announcement has further fueled interest in the re-release, as fans eagerly anticipate what lies ahead for the cursed world of Tumbbad. With no significant competition at the box office and a partial holiday on Monday due to Eid, the film is expected to maintain its strong performance over the extended weekend. If it manages to sustain this momentum into the weekdays, Tumbbad could solidify its position as a true box office comeback story.
