Vijay, founder of Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK), faced chaotic scenes as he arrived at the State Secretariat in Chennai on Saturday to meet the State Chief Election Commissioner. Amid heavy crowds, he was repeatedly jostled by supporters and media, while security personnel struggled to control the situation. As Vijay attempted to enter the Secretariat, he was reportedly pushed at multiple points amid the crowd.

Vijay's visit comes as Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam intensifies its protest against alleged 'unfair restrictions' by election officials, claiming denial of permissions for key campaign events in areas like Perambur, including a last-minute rejection for a rally at Mullai Nagar Junction, impacting the party’s poll plans.

Local authorities, however, refuted the allegations, stating there was no intentional obstruction. The Greater Chennai Corporation clarified that routine civic work was underway at the locations, while decisions regarding campaign permissions were taken by the constituency’s returning officer. Officials added that the process followed standard procedures and was not directed at any particular party, including Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam.

On the professional front, actor Vijay is awaiting the release of his much-anticipated movie Jana Nayagan. The film was scheduled to hit the theatres on January 9, but it got delayed. The delay is reportedly linked to issues with the CBFC, which has not yet granted the censor certificate for Jana Nayagan. Reports suggest the board raised objections to certain scenes considered sensitive, leading to the film being referred to the CBFC’s Revising Committee. A screening for the committee was scheduled for March 9 but was reportedly cancelled at the last minute after a member fell ill, causing further delays in the review process.
