Udta Punjab 2 in the Making?: Shahid Kapoor, Alia Bhatt, Kareena Kapoor Khan, and Diljit Dosanjh starred in Udta Punjab, a crime drama that highlighted Punjab’s drug crisis and its political involvement. The film was a commercial success. Released in 2016, its sequel has been highly anticipated by movie buffs. Amid the buzz surrounding Udta Punjab 2, the latest reports suggest that Ekta Kapoor is developing the sequel and plans to bring back Shahid Kapoor for the lead role.
Udta Punjab 2 in the Making?
As per reports, Ekta Kapoor is working on developing Udta Punjab 2, and she has reportedly hired Aakash Kaushik to write and direct the sequel. A source quoted by Peeping Moon said, “The team plans to approach actors once the script is finalized, but Ekta is keen on bringing Shahid back. She has reportedly had preliminary discussions with him, but formal talks are yet to take place.” The source also claimed that Udta Punjab 2 is currently in the writing phase, with production slated to begin next year.
Aakash Kaushik, who is likely to direct Udta Punjab 2, is known for his screenplay work on movies like Bhool Bhulaiyaa 2 and Housefull 4. The original film, Udta Punjab, was directed by Abhishek Chaubey, but he will not direct the sequel due to his commitments to other projects.
