Upcoming Malayalam Movies On OTT: June is going to be significant for Malayalam cinema, featuring numerous major releases. In addition to theatrical premieres, several films are set to debut on popular OTT platforms such as Netflix, Amazon Prime Video, JioCinema and Disney+ Hotstar. This week, viewers can look forward to a diverse array of Malayalam movies and web series including Varshangalkku Shesham, Guruvayoor Ambalanadayil To Nadikar, making their debut on these streaming platforms. Take a look.

Varshangalkku Shesham

The movie intricately weaves the life journeys of Venu and Murali, friends whose paths are shaped by their contrasting passions for theater and music. As they navigate through the vibrant city of Madras over four decades, the film explores the highs and lows of their friendship against the backdrop of evolving dreams and life's complexities. The film stars Pranav Mohanlal and Dhyan Sreenivasan in the lead roles, along with Nivin Pauly, Kalyani Priyadarshan, YG Mahendran, Shaan Rahman, Neeta Pillai, Aju Varghese, Basil Joseph, Neeraj Madhav and Vineeth Sreenivasan in supporting roles. Premiering on an OTT platform on June 7, 2024, it promises to captivate audiences with its heartfelt narrative and relatable characters.

Nadikar

The comedy drama helmed by Lal Jr. and scripted by Suvin S. Somasekharan is jointly produced by Godspeed Cinema and Mythri Movie Makers. The movie features Tovino Thomas, Divya Pillai, Soubin Shahir, Balu Varghese, Suresh Krishna, and Bhavana in prominent roles. Centered around the life of a superstar grappling with challenges, the film hit theaters on May 3, 2024 and is soon going to land on OTT platform. While the performances of the lead actors, music, and production quality garnered acclaim, Nadikar received mixed-to-negative feedback from both critics and audiences.

Guruvayoor Ambalanadayil

The comedy-drama film directed by Vipin Das and written by Deepu Pradeep, stars Prithviraj Sukumaran, Basil Joseph, Nikhila Vimal, Anaswara Rajan, and Yogi Babu in his Malayalam debut. Released on 16 May 2024, it received positive reviews and was a box office hit. Vinu Ramachandran, living in Dubai, is engaged to Anjali and bonds with her brother, Anand. Still heartbroken over his ex-girlfriend, Parvathy, Vinu is helped by Anand, who is also dealing with his own separation from his wife, Parvathy. Chaos ensues when they discover they are connected to the same Parvathy. Anand initially tries to stop Vinu's wedding, but after family revelations and clearing misunderstandings, he supports it. On the wedding day, conflicts are resolved, and Vinu marries Anjali. The film ends happily with Vinu and Anjali, and Anand and Parvathy, together. After ruling theaters, it will soon land on OTT.

Malayalee from India

Political satire film directed by Dijo Jose Antony and produced by Listin Stephen for Magic Frames, stars Nivin Pauly and Anaswara Rajan, it received mixed to negative reviews and was a box office flop. The plot says, in Kerala, Gopi spends his time playing cricket and campaigning for a nationalist party. After violent clashes between Hindus and Muslims, Gopi is sent abroad to work, where he initially clashes with his Pakistani supervisor, Sahib. They eventually bond over shared hardships, but Sahib dies from COVID-19. Gopi visits Sahib’s family in Rawalpindi, encouraging Sahib's daughter, Dua, to pursue her education. Five years later, Dua speaks at the UN, crediting Gopi for changing her life. The film ends with Gopi, now a better person, reminiscing about his journey.
