Upcoming Most-Awaited Movies On OTT: With 2024 nearing its end, Indian cinema reflects on a remarkable year of entertainment. With several blockbuster movies hitting theaters, audiences are now eagerly awaiting their OTT releases. Here's a sneak peek at some of the most anticipated movies soon streaming on Netflix, Prime Video, Disney+Hotstar, JioCinema, and more:
Upcoming Most-Awaited Movies On OTT
The Buckingham Murders
Netflix has not yet announced the official OTT release date of The Buckingham Murders. But, the Kareena Kapoor Khan-starrer movie is expected to arrive on the OTT giant in October. After generating buzz at its world premiere during the 67th BFI London Film Festival on October 14, 2023, the film was released theatrically on September 13, 2024, marking its widespread availability to cinema-goers.
Manamey
Manamey was all set to make its much awaited OTT debut on Amazon Prime Video, but the audience failed to find the movie on the platform. The movie’s official OTT release date has not been announced yet.
The 2024 Telugu-language romantic comedy-drama film, Manamey, marks the latest directorial venture of Sriram Adittya, who also penned the screenplay. Produced by People Media Factory and Ramsey Studios Production, this cinematic endeavour draws inspiration from the 2010 American film, Life As We Know It. The movie boasts a talented lead cast, comprising Sharwanand and Krithi Shetty, who bring to life the intricacies of love and relationships. Released on June 7, 2024, Manamey garnered mixed reviews from critics, but defied expectations by achieving commercial success, amassing a impressive box office collection of over Rs 21.50 crore.
Swag
Sree Vishnu, known for pushing the boundaries of storytelling, has unveiled his latest Telugu cinematic endeavour, Swag, in theatres. Reuniting with director Hasith Goli, following their triumphant collaboration on Raja Raja Chora, expectations ran high. While Swag's unique concept and Sree Vishnu's remarkable performance garnered praise, critics noted that the film's narrative fell short, succumbing to a convoluted screenplay.
As Sree Vishnu continues to defy conventions, his dedication to innovative storytelling resonates with audiences. Swag's acquisition by Amazon Prime Video underscores the platform's commitment to showcasing diverse and engaging content.
Thangalaan
Thangalaan, starring Chiyaan Vikram and directed by Pa. Ranjith, failed to meet expectations globally despite its hefty ₹135-crore budget. Delays and poor marketing dampened excitement, leading to moderate box-office performance. Now, the film seeks new life on Netflix.
Speculation is rife that Netflix may renege on its ₹35-crore deal for Thangalaan, but the streaming platform has yet to confirm or deny the rumours. As a result, the status of the agreement hangs in the balance, fueling anticipation for an official announcement.
Devara
The highly anticipated film Devara: Part 1 is slated to make its digital premiere on OTT platforms roughly 50 days following its theatrical release, according to reports from the Economic Times. In a significant deal, Netflix has acquired the digital rights to the film, shelling out an impressive Rs 100 crore.
Stree 2
Stree 2 will be available for free streaming on Amazon Prime Video from October 11, 2024. The movie can currently be watched on the platform on a rental basis. So the twist is- those with Prime Video subscription can watch the movie without any extra payments.
