Uttam Kumar's 44th Death Anniversary: The legendary actor of Bengali Cinema has been warmly called Mahanayak by his fans and well-wishers. Four decades since he passed away but his legacy remains intact in the world of Cinema and in the hearts of audiences. The actor who predominantly worked in the Bengali Film Industry made his first appearance in a movie called Drishtidan in 1948. In 1949, he became the lead actor in Kamona. He had many hits and emerged as the brightest superstar of Indian Cinema due to his phenomenal acting skills ruling over decades. Nayak: The Hero
The 1966 comedy-drama showcases a train journey where a male superstar is travelling and meets a female Journalist. On the way, the star shared his past experiences with the reporter. Satyajit Ray’s directorial starred Uttam Kumar, Sharmila Tagore, Jogesh Chatterjee, Premangshu Bose, Somen Bose, Bharati Devi, Lali Chowdhury and Bireswar Sen in key roles. It remains the cult movie of Indian Cinema.
