Veteran Kannada actor-director Dwarakish passed away on April 16 at the age of 81. He made his acting debut in the Kannada film industry in 1964 with the movie 'Veera Sankalpa'. He later started directing movies and produced some of them as well. He reportedly died following a cardiac arrest and details regarding his funeral are yet to be shared by his family members. His colleagues from the film industry and fans have paid their tribute on social media.

Superstar Rajinikanth posted on X, "The demise of my long time dear friend Dwarakesh is very painful to me..starting his career as a comedian, he raised himself up to being a big producer and director.. fond memories come to my mind..my heartfelt condolences to his family and dear ones."

Kiccha Sudeep wrote on X, "Another precious life of Kannada cinema, Dwarkeesh has left us all. His great contributions in taking the Kannada film industry to new heights cannot be forgotten. Deepest condolences to his family. Invoking peace to the soul of the Elder Spirit."

Former cricketer Anil Kumble posted, "Deeply saddened by the passing of veteran actor Dwarakish Sir - A doyen of Kannada film industry. Grew up watching his movies. His contribution to the film world will always be remembered."

As an actor, he was last seen in the movie 'Aatagara' in 2015. He has been credited as a producer for several movies including 'Amma I Love You', 'Aayushmanbhava', 'Chowka', 'Chaarulatha' and many more. He also worked with singer-actor Kishore Kumar and brought him to the Kannada film industry.
