Vicky Kaushal talks about his character in Chhaava

As the countdown to the trailer begins, Vicky Kaushal, who was recently honored with the Youth Icon award at CNN News18's Indian of the Year 2024 Awards, shared insights into his preparation for the role. In a revealing conversation, Vicky delved into the process of channeling the intense rage required to portray the historical figure of Chhatrapati Sambhaji Maharaj, offering a glimpse into the depth of his character and the level of dedication he brought to the role.

When asked what did it mean for Vicky to get into the character and embody rage for Chhaava, Vicky said, “To be honest, when you start discussing an opportunity like Chhaava and when it comes your way, Laxman Utekar is the director of the film, and Dinesh Vijan is the producer of the film, and it’s the same team that I worked with in Zara Hatke Zara Bachke. So Laxman Sir discussed this opportunity with me when we were shooting that film.”

“The first feeling is just, will I be able to do justice to such an incredible legacy? But that’s what excites me the most as well. Also, every opportunity like this, when you get a great man like Chhatrapati Sambhaji Maharaj, it is also a beautiful opportunity to understand their culture, their history, their values, their beliefs, and their love for the country,” he further explained.

Vicky Kaushal went on to state, “And in that understanding and studying, there is growth in me as a human. And that’s what I look forward to the most. I have done my best, and I was just telling outside that I am so nervous for the film to come out because there has been so much hard work and so much effort that has gone into making Chhaava by the whole team that I really can’t wait for the film to come out on February 14th. And the trailer is dropping on January 22. So fingers crossed. I really am praying that people do love everything that we have done for the film.”
